    Access to Quality Healthcare

Glenkirk and Search coordinate thousands of medical and behavioral health appointments for over 400 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities annually. Keystone, Glenkirk and Search embarked on a collaborative initiative to develop a network of specialized medical clinics serving people in their programs. Today, this network consists of three clinics located in Arlington Heights, Mount Prospect and Lincoln Square, Chicago.

Through the clinics, individuals have access to a one stop shop healthcare center. Each person is provided with a primary care physician and a Care Coordinator, as well as access to an array of specialty care. This initiative has resulted in a reduction in missed appointments, improved follow-through with treatments, care and transitions, increased access to specialty care, a decreased reliance on emergency room care and most importantly, improved health outcomes.

  • Quality Housing

    Quality Housing

Glenkirk and Search, Inc. provide quality housing options for over 350 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the Chicagoland area. Demand for community integrated housing and support services is high, but access is limited. Years of underfunding has led to a serious shortage of residential capacity. As a result, thousands are stuck waiting.

Keystone, in collaboration with Glenkirk and Search, reached out to nonprofit lenders and funders to forge a creative solution to this problem. More than $4.75 million in financing has been obtained. These funds have supported the development of seventeen new and renovated homes at a fraction of the capital expense ordinarily required. The impact of this collaboration has been greater access to quality housing and services for individuals who would otherwise be shut out of their communities.

  • Alternatives to traditional services

    Alternatives to traditional services

Glenkirk and Search provide day services to over 600 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the Chicagoland area. Keystone collaborations with Glenkirk and Search have created innovative alternatives to traditional ‘day training’ options. Search’s Evanston-based No Boundaries site, as well as Glenkirk’s Glenview and Highland Park-based Next Generation Services sites provide small footprint, community facing services for approximately 60 individuals. Keystone developed conservatively-structured financial models for each initiative to minimize startup costs and to ensure that sustainability could be reached as quickly as possible. Next Generation and No Boundaries are housed in small storefronts located in the hearts of their respective communities. These programs open new pathways to employment and community life for people with disabilities and position both agencies for growth and success in their respective service areas.
